Third day of the WSOP Main Event

The third day of the WSOP Main Event started with 2,557 poker players, all that is left of the initial 7,319 field. Day three was the first day in which all players played together in the same room, since the first two days of competitions were divided in several calendar days due to the big number of players. David Assouline started the day as chip leader.

The winner of this year’s $10,000 buy-in Main Event will take home a prize of $8,944,138 and the nine players who make it to the final table will receive prizes of more than one million dollars. Some of the players who reached day three of the poker competition were Jesper Hougaard, Jim Collopy, Evelyn Ng, Barny Boatman, Johnny Chan, Vanessa Selbst, Marco Johnson, Dragan Galic, Patrik Antonius and Yevgeniy Timoshenko.

Only 1,240 poker players went through to Day 4 after the action during Day 3. James Carroll is the leader with 803,000 and his closest rival is Imari Love with 741,000 in chips. It was also a great day for former poker champion Johnny Chan, known as The Orient Express, who ended in the top ten and was chip leader several times.

Some of the players who were out of the tournament during day three were Scott Seiver, Phil Laak, Jennifer Harman, Chris Moneymaker, David Williams, Erik Seidel, Kara Scott, Bill Chen, Daniel Negreanu, Vanessa Rousso and last year’s Main Event winner Joe Cada. Michael, Robert, Eric and Danny Mizrachi made it to the fourth day of the poker tournament.
