Sammy Farha wins his third World Series of Poker bracelet

Sammy Farha, one of the poker players responsible for the 2003 poker boom, has won another World Series of Poker bracelet after a marathon heads up battle with James Dempsey. Farha played in the $10,000 Omaha Hi/Lo Split/8 or better event and he took home a large prize of $488,237. He is considered one of the best Omaha poker players in the world.

This is the first World Series of Poker bracelet Farha wins since 2006 and he has won his three bracelets in Omaha tournaments. Up to this day and after this event, Farha has won more than $2.8 million in career tournament winnings, also building a solid career and reputation in the poker world.

The heads-up match with Dempsey lasted almost four hours and was pretty exhausting for both poker players. “I didn’t get frustrated,” Farha commented. “That’s not normally me. I didn’t get a good night’s sleep so I was surprised that I won’t getting frustrated, which is good.”

James Dempsey is now the leader in the WSOP Player of the Year Race and he has already won a World Series of Poker bracelet this year. Dempsey is a British poker player who so far has won $694,878 in poker tournaments. He started playing professional poker in 2003 and he finished first in the 41st World Series of Poker 2010.
